We are delighted to welcome Mrs. Shirley Carrenard-McDowell, PMHNP-BC.

Shirley is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in critical care and hospital medicine.
Her extensive background brings a unique and valuable perspective to our team.
Shirley’s passion for psychiatry stems from her desire to address gaps in acute care, which led her to pursue her PMHNP degree from Liberty University, which she earned in 2021.
She offers a comprehensive range of services, including:
Shirley’s approach to care is patient-centered and compassionate, focusing on evidence-based, individualized treatment plans.
She considers all aspects of a patient’s well-being, including psychological, metabolic, nutritional, and lifestyle factors.
“I believe a diagnosis doesn’t define a person,” says Shirley. “I am committed to creating a validating, non-judgmental space for healing.”
When she’s not working, Shirley enjoys spending time with her three children, traveling, gardening, and hosting Friday Family Fun nights.
